There is no sugar coating the fact that plastic single use straws are bad for the earth. All the creatures that live on it too, especially sea life. A company that raised 1.8 million on Kickstarter, FinalStraw, is trying to do something about it.
They’ve made a reusable stainless steel straw that collapses down to fit into a keychain sized case. You can fit in your pocket, purse, or attach to your key ring.
FinalStraw also aims to spread awareness about the harm that single use straws do to the planet. On their website you can find plenty of facts and trivia about single use straws that are shocking.
For example, Americans alone use enough straws to wrap around the earth 2.5 times EVERY DAY.

Check out their site! Currently there are five nature inspired color options. Some are Suck-ulent Green, Shark Butt Grey and Sea Tur-Teal.
Right now the straws are still on preorder. They are set to ship in November. When you do get your straw, it will come with some cards to leave with the bill in restaurants. The cards request they only serve straws upon request to help limit plastic waste.
All FinalStraw straws are BPA free and dishwasher safe, they come with a small squeegee as well. The cleaning device fits into the case. It works by pulling it through the center of the straw under running water. All straws are made in socially and environmentally responsible factories and have latex free inner tubing.
The goal at FinalStraw is to completely free the earth from single use straws by 2032. With this product they’re off to a great start.
